You can quickly get started with MedReality by using the MedReality Web Viewer, or by Downloading the MedReality iOS App

1. Getting Started by Using the MedReality Web Viewer

    • The MedReality Web Viewer enables users to view 3D models on the web
    • On the MedReality home page click “login” on the top menu
    • Enter your MedReality username and password
    • When you are logged in you will see a list of your channels
    • Click into the channel and find the model you wish to view
      • Once you are viewing the model, you can rotate and zoom
      • If you are interested in creating a public link to your model please contact us

2. Getting Started by Downloading the MedReality App 

    • To download and install the MedReality iOS app: 
    • On your iOS device, visit the App Store and search for MedReality, or visit this URL – https://apps.apple.com/in/app/medreality/id1450308123  
    • Tap GET to install the app. 
    • Tap OPEN to open the MedReality app.

3. Your MedReality Account 

    • The first time you open the MedReality app, you can do three things: 
      • Sign Up and create a new user ID, 
      • Log In using an existing user ID, or 
      • Enter AR mode to view models 
    • To create a new login ID, tap SIGN UP 
      • Make sure that you have an internet connection over cellular or WiFi 
      • Choose a user name that is unique to you. If the user name is already chosen, you can type a different user name or add letters or numbers to make it unique. 
      • Enter a password for this account 
      • Provide your email for communication and support 
      • Tap Sign Up
    • To log into an existing account, tap LOGIN 
      • Make sure that you have an internet connection over cellular or WiFi 
      • Enter your username and password 
      • Tap Log In 
    • To begin viewing models in Augmented Reality (AR) mode, tap ENTER AR 
      • Make sure that you have an internet connection over cellular or WiFi 
      • You do not need an account, or to be logged in, to view the free models included in the app. 
      • Click ENTER AR 
      • Aim your phone at a horizontal surface until you see a solid green square 
      • Tap the plus sign (+) to choose a model to view 
      • Choose a model from one of the free libraries, or, if you have send your own models to your account, tap My MedReality and choose a model from your private library 
      • The model will load as you see a green spinning arrow, and then the model will appear in or near your view.  

4. Placing Sample Objects in your Scene 

    • To begin viewing models in Augmented Reality (AR) mode, tap ENTER AR 
      • Make sure that you have an internet connection over cellular or WiFi 
      • You do not need an account, or to be logged in, to view the free models included in the app. 
      • Tap ENTER AR 
      • Aim your phone at a horizontal surface until you see a solid green square 
      • Tap the plus sign (+) to choose a model to view 
      • Choose a model from one of the free libraries, or, if you have send your own models to your account, tap My MedReality and choose a model from your private library. 
      • The model will load as you see a green spinning arrow, and then the model will appear in or near your view.  

5. Upgrading to MedReality Pro, Assigning your Account to an Organization

    • A MedReality Pro license allows for unlimited 3D Model uploads (OBJ, STL and VRML) into your MedReality Accounts. Additionally, a MedReality Pro license will allow you to send 3D  models to other users as well.
      • To sign up for a MedReality Pro license please visit – https://medreality.com/pricing/
      • Select the number of licenses you are interested in purchasing
      • You will be directed to the MedReality store to complete your purchase.
    • To assign your account(s) to an organization please contact us

6. Uploading Your Own Objects

    • To upload your own objects click “Upload Models” on the MedReality homepage or visit – https://medreality.com/upload-choices/
      • Click “Upload Now” under “I Have a MedReality Pro License or Free Trial”
      • Log In with your username and password
      • Enter your own username under “Enter Username Sending To:” and click next
    • At this point, you will be directed to the MedReality Model Upload Page
      • Please read the guidelines about upload size and the 3D file formats that MedReality can accept
      • Select the appropriate options for your upload
      • Drag and drop your 3D model in the file upload area and click submit
      • Enter the AR scene on your MedReality app and your object will appear

7. Uploading Objects to Another User in Your Organization

    • To send objects to another user in your organization click “Upload Models” on the MedReality homepage or visit – https://medreality.com/upload-choices/
      • Click “Upload Now” under “I Have a MedReality Pro License or Free Trial”
      • Log In with your username and password
      • Enter the username of the user you wish to send the object in the “Enter Username Sending To:” field and click next
    • At this point, you will be directed to the MedReality Model Upload Page
      • Please read the guidelines about upload size and the 3D file formats that MedReality can accept
      • Select the appropriate options for your upload
      • Drag and drop your 3D model in the file upload area and click submit
      • Next time receiving user enters his or her AR scene on the MedReality app and the object will appear

8. Collaborating With/Following Another User

    • The MedReality following feature allows users to share objects in real time
    • To follow another MedReality user in your organization tap the “Follow Users” button on the MedReality App homescreen
      • Type the name of the user you wish to follow in the search bar
      • When the username appears tap the “follow” button next to the user you wish to follow
      • To unfollow a user you are already following, tap the “unfollow” button
    • Sharing an object
      • To share an object place it in your AR scene and then tap the share button in the lower right of the AR scene (The button looks like a cloud with an upwards arrow).
      • From the sharing menu select “Share Object”
      • This will allow other users that follow you to see that object
      • To stop sharing, tap “Unshare Object” from the same menu
    • Collaborating with another user
      • When a user you are following places shares an object you will both be able to see the model in your AR scene
      • The model can be manipulated (Resize, spin, move) in real time and both users will see the resulting changes
      • This is a great way to remotely share models in real time with other physicians, med-students or patients

9. Private Channels

    • MedReality allows organizations to create private channels of content that can only be accessed by users that are granted permission
    • Private channels are accessed from the same area as the rest of your content library, but will only be visible to permitted users
